Rio Tinto Kennecott: the rebuilding of the mine access road

A time lapse video on the rebuilding of the mine access road. Months ahead of schedule, Rio Tinto Kennecott reopened its main 'highway,' called the mine access road, within the Bingham Canyon Mine. Its width is greater than the 12 lanes of I-15, and it winds nearly three quarters of a mile within the mine joining the top to the bottom. Destroyed in the 165-million-ton April landslide, its restoration was a priority for everyone at Rio Tinto Kennecott.
