Platinum miners strike in South Africa ends after five months

A five month long strike by thousands of platinum miners in South Africa has ended. The president of the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union, Joseph Mathunjwa, said a wage deal and "the bulk" of the workers demands had been accepted by the mining companies involved. Speaking at a stadium in the city of Rustenburg, Mathunjwa announced that "the strike is officially over. Workers will start reporting to work on Wednesday."
