Hidden deep beneath the surface of the Russian city Yekaterinburg lies a wonderland of beauty and wonder.  The former salt mine hosts miles of passageways with psychedelic patterns and swirls that few have ever seen. Walls, ceilings and floors are encompassed by mesmerizing layers of colors caused by carnallite, a mineral used in the process of plant fertilization.

These images, taken 650 feet below surface, illustrate the jaw dropping stripes that electrify the walls of the Yekaterinburg salt mine. And while they may appear to be man-made, they are all formed by layers upon layers of minerals.
