With Ontario to the east and Saskatchewan to the west, the Canadian province of Manitoba is centrally located to some of the largest mining projects in Canada.
For Manitoba, the mining industry is one of the most important sources of wealth behind agriculture, hydro and oil production, consisting of roughly six percent of the Gross Provincial Product. It also provides some of the safest and highest paying jobs for the region. For example, the average salary in mining in Manitoba is $90,000 compared to other sectors which bring home between $55,000 and $60,000 on average.
