Equipment manufacturer JCB unveiled something special earlier this year at the Hillhead 2014 convention. Along with other new machinery, the company revealed the first-of-its-kind JCB JS290 excavator.

And this isn’t your ordinary excavator.

JCB revealed a driverless JS290 powered completely by remote control.

The JCB JS290 is equipped with a 7.8 litre, six cylinder Isuzu engine with high power and torque. The JS290 comes with a 6.2 mono boom for effortless transportation and a string of various dipper lengths for add-ons.

The excavator also includes features such as load-sensing system with flow on demand and variable power output. Servo-operated, a multifunction open center control is designed to increase flow and pressure of the equipment. Accessing the JS290 is safe and easy too. The cab includes ground-level servicing to reduce downtime and offer greater safety for operators and technicians working in the field.

While the company hasn’t discussed much on the new driverless JS290 prototype, we expect to hear more in upcoming months.
